Indiana vs Maryland @ Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium – October 28, 2017

This weekend we made it to the University of Maryland to see the Terrapins take on Indiana. The big matchup was between two top wide receivers: Simmie Cobbs for Indiana and D.J. Moore for Maryland. This was a very eventful game that had just a bit of everything.

The 1st Quarter saw Indiana take an early lead 16-7. Cobbs got on the board first hauling in a 34-yard pass from Peyton Ramsey. Cole Gest caught a 23-yard TD pass to make it 14-0. Lorenzo Harrison scored from 14 yards out for Maryland to make it 14-7. Late in the quarter, Maryland was tackled in the endzone for a safety.

Maryland took over in the second. Darnell Savage returned a blocked punt for a TD. After an Indiana TD, Taivon Jacobs and D.J. Moore both caught touchdown passes to give the Terps a 28-23 lead at the half.

Indiana retook the lead in the third with a touchdown and field goal to go back on top 33-28. Two early Jake Funk touchdown runs in the fourth for Maryland put them up 42-33. Cobbs scored his second TD of the day, this time from Richard Lagow, making it 42-39. Indiana had a few chances on a final drive, but were unable to make anything happen.

Max Bortenschlager finished 10/16 with 171 yards, 2 TD and 1 Int for the Terps. Ty Johnson ran 13 times for 91 yards and Moore caught 4 passes for 77 yards and a score. CB J.C. Jackson finished with eight tackles on defense. Indiana QB Peyton Ramsey finished 31/41 for 279 yards, 2 TD and a pick before leaving with an injury. Richard Lagow backed him up and went 12/21 with 131 yards and 2 TD. Cobbs finished with 10 catches, 138 yards and 2 TD. Whop Philyor had 13 catches for 127 yards and a score and Luke Timian had 13 catches for 91 yards and a TD. Tegray Scales had 8 tackles and a half-sack on the night.
